Internship is marked as a compulsory component for all the business students like me. It is a three month duration that we are placed at different bank or company to have a basic understand of the real work life. Well, I was uncertain and unsure of what to do in the first place because information was pieces and puzzles. Sooner, we were informed to attend workshops held by Taylor’s Career Services to equip us on our upcoming internship. I was under University Placement and it didn’t stop me from searching for company I want to work for. With the help of Career Services, I found my first internship job and I would say the pre-workshop and training are rather effective. For instance, through the first workshop, it gives me an effective and informational guide on how to prepare an outstanding resume and Curriculum Vitae, “Ethic and Etiquette at Work” gives me on a better idea on how to prepare myself for the job interview and the do & don’t in workplace.
I can still clearly remember my very first internship interview is with CIMB Bank where I was so nervous that I forget all the point I wanted to present and I did some few mistake which I shouldn't had done. Well, everyone learnt from mistake. In my second interview with OCBC Bank I perform better than the previous one, but I didn't manage to get the offer letter due to management problem. Rushing to meet with the dateline, I applied for United Overseas Bank Malaysia (UOB) and Worley’s Parson, and faith was on me this time! I get both offer and after a long discussion with Mr. Khairul, I had chosen UOB where I am currently working in a Bank proudly as my first choice as a banking student. My expectation were to learn and gain as much knowledge and skills as I possibly could.
A big credit to Taylor’s Career Services, without the helping hand from them, no doubt I could not done step one of my internship which is to find a company placement. Hence, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Khairul who helps me so much during the company selection process. I constantly send email to him to get update on my internship confirmation from those companies I had applied and he was so kind to reply me even he is out of office. I appreciate for his help very much.
